Unpacking Queerness & Spirituality - Deposit

For many folks in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, religion has caused actual harm. Maybe for you, having faith or belief in a specific god has brought pain where you were promised a soothing balm. Or perhaps you have felt tugs at your heart to lean into doctrines that otherwise silence an important part of self, sacrificing that part for a promise of another kind. Whether you have experienced religious trauma - or are struggling to piece together some semblance of faith.

Whether you denounce and run far from a childhood of forced teaching & preaching, or feel drawn to lean in to some kind of anything that might be worth clinging to. Whether you feel there is no place for us in any sort of organized religion, or you have found a place of belonging and are still left wanting connection - this group is for you.

In this virtual space, we will make room for grief (of church potlucks and fellowshipping, disappointing family members with body modifications and a retreat from modest or traditional dress, slipping away from being present for religious holidays…) - and joy (of freeing yourself from bondage, of connecting with a path that fits, of finding community elsewhere…).

This group is closed and participation is encouraged. Taking place virtually over 6 Thursdays, the group is led by JL Seeley (registered psychotherapist) & Ames Mannseichner (student therapist & intern), and limited to 10 participants.
