Roll 4 Connection

Making friends as an autistic or neurodivergent adult can feel confusing, exhausting, and wildly high-stakes. In this 8-week psychotherapy group, we’ll explore the messy business of connecting with other humans in a low-stakes way, with loads of space to try things out, practice, get it wrong, try again, and notice what happens. (patterns!)

Using board games as our playground, we’ll explore connection and relationships through play, while sprinkling in useful tools, insights, and relationship frameworks along the way.

We’ll play together. We’ll process together. We’ll make meaning together. No pressure to perform, mask, or be ‘good at games’. This is a space for experimenting with connection in a supportive, ND-affirming space.

What to expect each week:

  • A themed relational focus
  • An online board game or 2 that mirrors that theme
  • Processing time
  • Gentle real-life translation (no homework!)
  • Shared resources as relevant that you can refer back to if you wish.

Some things worth knowing that might lessen the anxiety of being in a group:

  • You’ll never be forced to talk
  • You can observe more than play
  • Cameras can be on OR off - zero pressure.
  • Parallel play is still participation
  • You won’t be corrected for “doing it wrong”
  • This is not a social skills training group, even though you might gain or improve some anyway
  • You do not need to know anything about any of the pre-selected games (or board games in general) for this group to be useful. Board games just happen to be the sandbox we will try out theories and stretch our connection muscles in.
  • All board game experiences, skills, likes, & dislikes are welcome. (did I mention that the games are just the bonus to the content and only the secondary, if not very FUN, point?)

What you’ll need in order to participate effectively:

  • A laptop or desktop computer capable of comfortably running Zoom and a web browser at the same time*
  • A reliable high-speed internet connection
  • A webcam and microphone (built-in is absolutely fine!)
  • An up-to-date web browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge
  • A free Board Game Arena account
  • A private space to join from. (This is as much for you and your own therapeutic experiences in the group as it is also for the comfort and confidentiality of the others who are participating as well)

*A laptop or desktop is strongly recommended. While Board Game Arena can run on phones and tablets, managing a game alongside Zoom on a small screen may be difficult.

You do not need a fancy gaming computer, any special gaming equipment, or a paid Board Game Arena membership.

**As stated above, your choice to be seen on camera or heard on a mic is entirely your choice and still counts as participating. Having the option is a good call, should you become comfortable enough over the 8 weeks.

Sound interesting at all? You can hold your spot at the table here.
